Notice to all candidates for the MACS Examination:

The Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) begins examinations for the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License on the 8th edition of the Massachusetts State Building Code beginning in February 2011.

Testing is still being done by Prometric. Their phone number is 1 (800) 813-6671. You can go to their website by clicking here.

If you wish to download the MACS Candidate Information Bulletin on-line click here

If you only wish to download the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License Examination Application Form, access the Candidate of Information Bulletin and print pages 13 and 14 of the brochure.

Mail the completed, notarized application with your proof of experience and payment to Prometric.

NOTE: You MUST give Prometric positive proof of your 3 years of construction experience, or you will not be permitted to take the examination.   If you use letters of attestation to substantiate your work experience, they must be notarized.

You may review Prometric's pre-exam requirements for experience, and we recommend you do, by clicking here. The 8th edition requires applicant's experience to be within the 10 years prior to the date of application.

OUR REFUND POLICY

Students who elect to cancel participation in any courses and who want a refund must call CCI and receive a cancellation verification number. Calls may be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the numbers above. Calls going into the message system will be returned within one working day. You must speak with a CCI representative to confirm a refund. All refunds incur a $20.00 administrative fee.

Students who have prepaid for a course, but who are obtaining their own codebook(s), will receive a full refund if cancellation is received up to the day before the start of classes minus an administrative fee.

Students who have prepaid the course fee and purchased codebooks will receive a full refund minus an administrative fee, if cancellation is received on or before the Thursday before the week classes begin.

UNRESTRICTED COURSE CANCELLATIONS

Students who have prepaid the unrestricted course fee and purchased codebooks will receive a partial refund, if cancellation is received after the Thursday before the start of classes and before the first class in the full amount of the course minus an administrative fee and minus the cost of the One- and Two-Family Dwelling codebook.

Students cancelling the unrestricted license course will have the basic, AAB, IECC and OSHA codebooks available at their request, either before the beginning or at the end of the first class or delivered to an address of their choice. Shipping and handling charges will be added to the cost of the books for delivery to other places than the first night class.

YOU PASS or WE PAY

We have found that students who complete this class have a very high pass rate on the state exam. We have also found that completing the class means making an honest attempt to do the work of class before coming to the next class. We consider an honest attempt to be at least 80% of class work with an accuracy of 80%.

We want each person who takes this program to pass the state test and we feel they will by doing the following:

  • Attend all of the classes for the entire length of the class. This means you are in class start time, you observe break times, and you remain until the class is over. Begin classes with a current, unmarked codebook. Tab and highlight codebook in accordance with CCI’s guidelines. Books to be completely organized by class 5. Do your class work before the next class and give it to the instructor at the beginning of that class.
  • You take the state exam within two weeks (14 calendar days) after completing the course.

Failure to take the exam in the allotted time for reasons beyond the control of CCI does not count as maintaining the time requirements of this program.

In the unlikely event that you do not pass the exam, and you have met the conditions above, you MUST do the following for reimbursement for the exam.

Send CCI a copy of the PROMETRIC EXAMINATION SCORE REPORT within 21 calendar days after completing your class.

These may be faxed or mailed. If mailed, DO NOT SEND THE ORIGINAL, in case it gets lost.

In addition, you must contact CCI within 21 calendar days after completing your class to either request a reimbursement check for your exam, and thus complete the program, or to register for the next one or two series of classes.

REIMBURSEMENT CHOICES

Immediate Reimbursement, Course Completed

Students electing to receive immediate reimbursement for the exam fee are considered to have completed the program. They will be classified as new students for attendance at future classes.

Maintain Student Status, Continue Course Attendance

Students who have elected to attend classes during the next two quarters and who have elected to defer reimbursement to a future date will maintain active student status and may do so at no charge. Students must register for future classes within 21 calendar days after completing their class to register for the next one or two series of classes. Students will have to use their own codebook and codebook organizers.

These students may select which classes they wish to attend, or they may attend all of the classes. Students will attend the first set of classes on a priority status and second set of classes on a space available status.

Students completing the classes they elected to attend are to call and request their reimbursement check for the exam. They will then be classified as new students for attendance at future classes.

NOTE: Students must have paid all fees in full by the fourth class to participate in this program.

Previous CCI students are not eligible for this program.

Snowstorms, classroom closings and other such occurrences that are beyond the control of CCI may impact exam dates. CCI accepts no responsibility for these events.
